A mind map is a type of graphic organiser. “Mind Map” is a registered trademark of The Buzan Organisation Ltd (https://tonybuzan.com) in some countries, including the USA and UK. The term “mind map” is used in other countries to represent a range of graphic organiser types.

 “Mind Map” as set out by Tony Buzan, is a particular type of graphic organiser, that must adhere to a prescribed set of laws, and whose effectiveness is arguably far superior to similar-looking graphic organisers. Many online examples of mind maps are not examples of the authentic Tony Buzan method.
